Display for Learning (DFL)
The use of display should be seen as an important part of your skills as a teacher to engage, educate and inspire pupils into learning about your subject. In the context of our school policy, the word display refers to the creative use of the physical environment to support teaching and learning. Try to consider display as a opportunity to develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding beyond the tradition teaching materials to which you may have become accustomed. It could take many forms ranging from a colourful timeline to a 3D installation or audio recording. Your display could provoke thought around an issue or problem, reinforce key skills, summarise key concepts or just to celebrate the work of subjects as a motivational tool. Many displays can be the catalyst for further learning opportunities, so try to think about it from a cross-curricular perspective.
